Ferdi is the CTO and Co-founder of the award winning healthcare start-up Vula Mobile (www.vulamobile.com). Vula Mobile is the official e-referral application in South Africa. Vula Mobile’s data is used regularly to present at healthcare conferences, to complete research projects and understand public healthcare better. The data enables Heads of Department to manage their teams better through accurate case measurement.
He holds a MSc in Computer Science from Kingston University, London and a BSc (Electrical) Engineering from the University of Cape Town. He published in the Pattern Recognition journal, during his MSc and did his undergraduate project on applying nonlinear algorithms to improve signal to noise ratio in EEG measurements.
He contributes 18 years commercial software development experience, having worked for technology giants like Microsoft, Sky and Samsung abroad. He also worked locally for a successful e-commerce start-up Takealot as VP of Engineering.
Being with his medical doctor wife for more than 20 years, he has experienced healthcare in rural South Africa and within the NHS. His ambitions to support healthcare workers aligns with the vision of Vula Mobile to improve the lives of healthcare works.
